How to Get Reliable News in a World Full of Noise

You open a tab for "the news" and get millions of pages. Half of them are unrelated. The rest ask you to trust a site you have never heard of. By the time you have a picture of what actually changed, the morning is gone.

Reliable NewsReliable News

That is not a reading problem. It is a curation problem.

News that lives where you already work

Scalata does not send you to another news app. It puts news on the dashboard, beside the rest of your work.

Four news widgets are already on the dashboard:

  • Technology
  • Business
  • Policy & Macro
  • Crypto

You can do more than read

  • Ask the assistant. Summarize what is on screen. Explain a headline. Ask what is going on with a company. On a category tile, that lookup can pull current reporting without wiping the Technology / Business / Policy / Crypto feed you are looking at.
  • Run a schedule. Hourly. Weekdays at 9 am. A morning pass on a topic you care about. When a run finishes, you can get an in-app or email alert.

Ask a question, get a sourced feed

The feature behind these widgets is Newsfeed AI, part of Scalata Enterprise, and it goes past a plain category browse. Ask about a company, a ticker, a market, a regulation, a competitor, and the answer comes back as a feed of sourced stories, not a paragraph of text. Every card is timestamped, attributed, and links through to the full piece. When a figure shows up, it is pulled straight from the underlying filing or release, not restated secondhand, so it is always traceable to where it actually came from.

Personalized to what you already track

The real difference from a generic feed is what decides what shows up. Newsfeed AI follows the tickers, suppliers, counterparties, and rules already live in your connected systems. A story surfaces because it moves a number you are already tracking, and it tells you which one. That holds whether your beat is semiconductors and supply chain, 10-Q filings, chip equipment orders and memory pricing, export regulations, foundry utilization, or hyperscaler capex guidance — the feed is relevant because it is tied to your data, not just to a broad topic.

News widgets sit alongside workbook, document, portfolio, app, and grid widgets — live surfaces built from your own systems, not static reports.

How can I have my own category of news?

Default widgets cover the broad markets. Your beat might be narrower: a sector, a set of publishers, a query you run every morning. Start by connecting an API you trust, then ask the News Agent to turn a query into a widget.

Create a news source

  1. Open Data Marketplace → News Sources.
  2. Click Add New Item and choose News Source.
  3. In Create News Provider, name it (for example, Reuters API) and pick Free or Paid. Click Continue to Configuration.
  4. Fill in the API URL, HTTP method, source name, API key if the provider needs one, and the Search Parameter the API uses for queries.
  5. Click Build Connection. When the test succeeds, click Save News Source.

Turn it into a widget

  1. In chat, start with "I want to make a Newsfeed Widget," attach those sources, and tell the News Agent the topic (for example, latest Tesla headlines).
  2. Preview the feed, then click Generate Newsfeed Widget to create the widget on the dashboard.
  3. Chat with it. Schedule it.

Why curation matters at work

Most people do not have time to verify every URL, then sit down and read. They click the first result and hope it is true.

That is expensive. You miss the story, or you act on the wrong one.

A news widget does three jobs at once: it narrows what you see, it names where it came from, and it lets you do something with it — a summary, a scheduled refresh, a custom feed, without leaving the dashboard.

The point is the same as the first paragraph, inverted: less ocean, more signal, in the place you already work.
